Petticoat Part 1

At some point I am going to make myself a petticoat. I can't buy one. I am 5'3" I have short legs and 45" hips. Ouch. Can't find any knee length, XL, petite petticoats. Ugh, being short.

Mind you today is just getting some of the nasty math stuff worked out. It may not get done before May. But will try to get it done afterwards. Mid to late May, maybe.

Do I need to buy a pattern? Not really. I plan to use this tutorial Sugardale: How to Make a Petticoat (Should check out her blog, its a nice blog).

Some things I am doing differently 1.) I am not using crinoline. Which means a layer of fabric over and under the itchy tulle.2.) I am going to  have an elastic band. Here are some of my scribbles trying to figure out what to do and how.

This first page means nothing... I changed my numbers 2x. I was also trying to wrap my head around the "strips" and how many of how long should I have.  I was getting confused. I later realized that there is a strip of 2 yards that is unused.

I decided the band will be an other layer. I don't want what will be going around the elastic to be that scrunched. That changed some numbers.

This is what my brain goes through to figure things out. I later go through and organize what information I need and rewrite it so its easier to understand what I need and what i don't... and whats what.

Oh Look! I did it right after my computer screen went dead. (It seemed a nice way to chill before I set out to see what was freaken wrong with my screen. >( Its done this before )

I still need to figure out what the numbers for the under and over layers will be. Meh. I'll do that when I set out to make it. Right now I have other stuff to do.

Special thanks to Sugardale http://sugardale.blogspot.com/ People like you, taking time out of your day to make tutorials, is why the internet is a wonderful place ^_^
